#WisdomWed... Watch the Video 1st

"Why I hate school, but Love Education" a line by Suli Breaks. He poses the argument between Emotion Quality vs. IQ. Society's system tends to overlook the intelligence of a person, who is emotionally creative. Not the artists who composes or the painter, they contribute the enjoyable beauties and songs we adore; but those who possess and are naturally-highly-intelligent. The ones who can learn simply by demonstration and then process the world, using unique-organic-thinking. These are the people who provide superlative advice to those above their  position - people who contain high deposits of wisdom. A teacher once said, these people are known as a Machiavelli.

Most Intellects (the arrogant ones) considered themselves the best among people because of their education. This perception in some cases will negate the intelligence of the people they will serve, facilitate or employ. The people who utilize heart in combination with their intelligence, upon a foundation of experience are very valuable. A natural experience trained through critical thinking, making those successful decisions that shape lives in crucial moments. It is human development in ways you will not earn a degree, but you do elevate in degree; as an intelligent person using your gift with heart to change life from as is to as it should be.
It is the tale of worlds clashing, because the natural utilize his/her heart, experience and intellect to create, while the latter learned life through the eyes of an emotional great person, and not their own! "to God be the Glory, Forever and Forever...amin"

Wisdom Wednesday... Organize with LA Voice

"Community organizing, the task of a few to mobilize many." Organizers educate, research and teach community leaders to build power to change local, state and national policy. Organizations like L.A. Voice of Los Angeles are making change across the political and civic landscape. The following is a preamble, some of LA Voice's credentials.

LA Voice is a growing federation of 30 congregations
  • churches, synagogues, and mosques and
  • we represent over 40,000 families in the LA region, including seven city council districts in the city of LA and with a growing presence in Baldwin Park in the San Gabriel Valley.
  • In total, we organized and represent over 40,000 families. LA Voice and all of us are also part of PICO National Network, the largest faith based grassroots organization in the U.S. with organizations in 23 states representing over 1 million families of different colors and creeds.
Inclusively, We are changing the rules that were never written for our benefit, and writing rules that create opportunity for all of us. It has been often repeated, "If you are not at the table, then you are on the menu." Well, through LA Voice, we are AT THE TABLE!

What's my evidence?
  • How about that we signed a community benefits agreement worth over 10 million in local investments at Hollywood and Vine?
  • How about the fact that we ended 30 day impounds that cost immigrant families millions per year?
  • How about we led the coalition that passed the Responsible Banking Ordinance, holding banks, those are seeking city business, accountable to our needs?
  • How about the fact that we identified over 8100 voters who value what we do by knocking on over 13,000 doors and having 8,000 phone conversations in support of proposition 30. Helping an effort of PICO across the State of California, move 40,000 voters to vote, for its successful passage last fall
  • How about the fact on Monday April 15, 2013 in Washington DC, LA Voice and other PICO California leaders had a meeting with Senator Dianne Feinstein, who has agreed to finally meet with California Clergy to discuss gun violence and the path to citizenship for our 11 million aspiring Americans?
"We are LA Voice, and we are at the table!"

Every Thursday with Ice Cube

"Every Thursday" will feature people of creativity and/or ideas of leadership throughout their work.

Every person lives on their own timeline of evolutionary events or a better term growth. Who you are today is not necessarily who you were yesterday, case in point Ice Cube. An urban writer of such hits... "Boyz 'n the Hood, Gangsta Rap made me do it and as filmmaker, Are We There Yet!"

Observing his timeline of ideas and creativity, one can see from the beginning it was more than just Gangsta Music. Below is a video blog-ver-sa-tion by Pacific Standard Time, with Ice Cube, describing Los Angeles and its landmarks. Ice Cube narrates his perspective and interest with architecture of the Eames home, a 1949 architecture's dream home ahead of its time.

We can only truly critique someone's life by seeing their whole timeline. Then we can gain a better understanding of that person and their vision, whether good or bad. Be Disruptive with in your "life" and next Thursday it might be you

"Always gotta have a plan...It's not about the pieces. It's about how the pieces work together." Ice Cube

Wisdom Wednesday... Why am I a Muslim

"Why am I a Muslim?"

There's a number of reasons for this decision I can think of. I will say, "it is an innate feeling, for us having a desire for success." Growing up in urban Compton, California the desires for success are high. It has nothing to do with the narrative of gangs, crime, or why I did not win the sixth grade student council election for president; but more of having a stable mental health. After experiencing days of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) which would include; sex, drugs and Music. Coming out of this lifestyle and finding Allah (proper Arabic word for God), one desires "Success" after experiencing a mental drain and feeling so lost.
"...This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion..." Surah Al Ma'idah 5:3
On December 31, 1997 a gift was sent, my very first Holy Qur'an. A meaningful blessing, upon making a sincere request and appointment.

Reading this book it re-opened the gates of wisdom, I then began to discipline those wild  desires, understanding diversity and many other re-iterations became my personal development. A Successful treatment of needed nourishment was needed that would revive, renew and restore an ignored dignity. Now challenging or let's say expanding my Episcopal faith, changing my acolyte to duties into new media and community service. Also started answering many obvious questions, an acolyte needed answered...
  • Who is Muhammad (PBUH) and why is he among the family of Abraham
  • You mean all the Prophets are fraternally related
  •  The Qur'an mentions Jesus Son of Mary's story and a chapter (surah) is named after Mary
  • What, I gotta give up bacon! No pepperoni pizza either, I don't know...smh
You see, surviving days of ignorance in Urban America is a form of success. Shifting oneself in a whole new direction, took time and is still taking patience. Acknowledging the wrong we've started and then obtaining the courage to correct it, takes having a true promise from the Creator of the Heavens and Earth, for success in this life and the next. Reading the Creator's Speech, as He speaks a complete composition of Faith, mankind's Behavior, Abraham's chosen lineage, miracles and more. It is an experience and tour through His universal Wisdom; and it redirects my heart towards success for a much more decent character.
"Allah does not change a people's lot unless they change what is in their hearts." Surah Ar-Ra'd 13:11
#IamMuslim, mainly because this path was written for me, written during the first 120 days in my mother's womb. On July 3, 1998 I reverted via pronouncing a special declaration of faith. Subsequently thinking, maybe our reversion to Al Islam answer the prayers (dua) of African Muslims brought to the United States for slavery.

Today being Muslim is a celebration of a decent way of life (deen), having identity, and an unique culture. Walking this path learning means of leadership for family, community, and personal interests; totally narrates, Why am I a Muslim - Thank you Allah!
"So establish weight with justice And fall not short in the balance..." Rahman 55:9

Every Thursday with Failure

"Every Thursday" will feature people of creativity and/or ideas of leadership throughout their work.

Meet "Failure", everyone who has ever tried inventing, establishing or being the first at something has met it. Most successful attempts have encountered failure, in becoming smarter and/or more efficient. Failure exposes the weak spots, the kinks and broken strategies of an idea. It gives an individual "motivation" to re-invent, focus, and/or double his/her efforts.

The following video describe the attempts, struggles and the opposite of "success" through the eyes of Famous Failures, that were made some well know people. "Nothing beat a fail, but a try" --- unknown

"Every Thursday" is about supporting good people and ideas for better strategies or jump-start that one person, who's ready but need a little push! Keep working, keep striving, keep thinking and keep implementing. Next week it may be you here on, Every Thursday.

Wisdom Wednesday... A Note to Self

"Before claiming a kingdom, one must first own land." In order to actualize and create a stable
foundation, there are prerequisites required for Men and Women to accomplish and must possess in leveraging one's life.

A person must contemplate and design his/her life while in the midst of living it. Have a vision, for success in this life and success in the next life. It all begins with having good intentions, for the best outcomes that will help maintain health, obtain security for protection and comfort.

The aforementioned are basic life essentials, in which both genders should have the ability to provide for not only himself, but have the capacity to share with his love ones. Though men have traditionally been considered as maintainers and providers for women, theoretically due to strength. Society, economics, and education have altered this concept from its natural state. Making society a bit disproportion and unbalanced.

Some men are fortunate to have some type of guidance or even wholesome leading advice, that can produce appropriate ethical influence and stability. There are certain lessons that cannot be observed, taught or learned within a single parent home. We must or should have rational characteristics for life and/or the ability to truly empower your counterparts; which is a true struggle for good. Life takes on a different temperament without those lessons.

Many men expect a woman to have similar nurturing qualities, that resemble their upbringing. Many women expect and demand attention, affection and respect. Both should understand, neither will obtain their rightful needs, without first experiencing it; in order to issue it.

Witnessing life in America, We are seeing many disorders; which are disassembling strong traditional belief systems. Mannerism is gone, privacy and confidentiality is no longer a trust, and individuals with the biggest disorders are advising. Forcing many to relearn as we face life's moments. One mistake being made is having the audacity to think, "you have all the answers." Many sway an audience into believing their arrogance is solid leadership, when in fact these are the most fragile people.

Leadership is about exemplifying humility under pressure, having the insight to know "enough is enough." Most of all Leadership is the quality of having patience. To acquire more, individuals will undergo a transformation of self, that will shake his/her core before entering a rebirth of sense. Out of these moments - a more healthier and mentally stronger person is born. Thoughts, words and actions will not sway one's disposition, fear will not be able to threaten the soul.

Life's experiences should shape your mental health, and the knowledge of faith gives the mental a comfortable foundation. Every man and woman dream of having a winning team, but each gender must be mentally ready to re-enforce a true perception of self. If not "Accountability" will expose us and then our life experiences should be able to guide us out of dark waters.

Have leverage people, so you can acquire your basic needs from others. Basically going back to the thesis of this blog-ver-sa-tion, "Before claiming a kingdom, one must first own land."

Note:  Surround yourself with the dreamers, the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don't see it yourself.     --unknown
