Upon reading this next verse is how my compulsive perspective began to re-iterate itself...
"For each (such person) There are (angels) in succession, Before and behind him; They guard him by command of Allah. Verily never Will Allah change the condition Of a people until they Change what is in themselves..." Quran 13:11Reading this then and even quoting it now, tells me I have no real control over no one except; my own self, deeds and actions. These verses enlightened my senses then and expanded its comprehension, to better view life's critical decisions. The highlighted phrase, takes my imagination into a more surreal realm of understanding. It confirms what the Creator has created and commanded for me, so I am to respect what he has commanded for the next person as well, (If I have'em, then you have'em too!).
An immature perspective: Having an immature perspective with good intentions, also paved an empathetic understanding for those who discard my deen, and not acknowledge its authenticity, historic presence and its place among the Abrahamic faiths. Though I never have problems with pastors, ministers and/or rabbis who have attended seminary school for theology; there exist a few who still thinks the world is flat.
What evolved my personal perspective were studies of relevant facts and authentic literature, and asking for a more firm heart to understand universal laws for navigating through life.
For the past 15 years, I have embraced a world of education, social experiences and civic leaders of various faiths; people who are socially striving to re-adjust society's unfair practices for a stronger public life. Compared to someone of equal time, who have not expanded their studies and/or enrolled into seminary school, for a more deeper school of thought. Only spreading "their" word based on desires and not established, accessible public knowledge. Learning more about Abraham's family - is a requirement before challenging the next, over his spiritual relation and denying common peace-building practices and principles between tribes.
A more mature perspective: Education, Education, Edu-ma-ca-tion is a very necessary enhancer for embracing one another. Academia is not the only way, but at least attend a class under someone with a more balanced knowledge and have experience in the world. Step out your comfort zone for open dialogues and if push come to shove, GOOGLE IT (a sound source pls)!
Developing new relationships through a filter of empathy will make a difference in this new paradigm of American culture. In fact the following comment is necessary for our reflection..

Understanding this, we are upon a new page; faith leaders will have to be more diverse in thought, for having a more balanced and effective community relation. Understanding the next man or woman, has always required a higher more comprehensive ethical encounter. In closing, I am comfortable with my gifts, confident about my faith's knowledge; and always seeking to expand but not contradict the Creator's Merciful Criteria in our books. So, tell me "Why Do You Wanna Convert Me?"

ReplyDeleteSometimes I am backed into a corner and made to feel like education is a four letter word, seriously. It's like I have to be "careful" who I say it to because people jump on the defense. I'm like listen, I'm a nobody, going back to school way late AFTER having children and whatnot. But my point is education really opens up the windows of the mind. I used to think reading Edgar Allen Poe and Shakespeare was a complete waste of my time, but it's not!

Insightful right? Who would have known? And let's not get started on the teachings of the ancient Egyptians which I am barely scraping the surface of right now. When I took up academia again, my entire perspective on LIFE changed. Like I said, my mind OPENED. And like you said, it definately ain't just about getting degrees and As on test. READ- books are becoming outdated in a way?? I hope not because they are GOLDEN.
And about the deen, I've been thinking about that A LOT lately. Just trying to move away from the talkers and move towards the walkers if you know what I mean...
